The Best Lefthanded Batters and Lefthanded Pitchers in Baseball

Rod Carew was a righthanded throwing second-baseman and first-baseman who played 19 years (from 1967 to 1985), 12 with the Minnesota Twins and 7 with the California Angels.  He led the American League in batting average seven times, including a .388 average in 1977, and led the league in on base percentage in four of those seven seasons.  

He finished his career with 3053 hits (27th all time) 353 stolen bases, a .328 batting average (34th all time), and a .393 on base percentage.  He was the American League Most Valuable Player in 1977, played in eighteen all-star games in his career, and was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991.
