Lefty Grove, Carl Hubbell, Lefty Gomez and Warren Spahn were a step above the rest,

but there were many other lefthanded pitchers among the best of their time.

Hal Newhouser pitched 17 years in the major leagues (from 1939 to 1955), 15 of them with the Detroit Tigers.  He finished with 207 wins and 150 losses, and 212 complete games in 374 starts.  He was dominant over 3 years (from 1944 to 1946) with 80 wins, only 27 losses, and 83 complete games out of 104 starts.  He was the American League Most Valuable Player in 1944 and 1945, and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992.

Herb Score pitched only 8 years in the major leagues (from 1955 to 1962) mostly with the Cleveland Indians.  He was a dominant pitcher in his first two years, leading the American League in strikeouts, but then got hit in the face with a line drive and never regained his form.  He finished with 55 wins and 46 losses and a 3.36 Earned Run Average.

Curt Simmons pitched 20 years in the major leagues (from 1947 to 1967), mostly with the Philadelphia Phillies.  He won 193 games with 183 losses and a 3.54 Earned Run Average.  He had 163 complete games, with 36 shutouts in 463 games started.
